San Francisco Street Food Festival 2015
The San Francisco Street Food Festival is an annual event put on by one of my favorite local charities La Cocina. This year’s event took place for the first time at Pier 70 after six very successful and increasingly popular festivals held in the Mission.
I was a little sad to hear that they were moving out of the Mission having so many fond memories of festivals past. The good news is that Pier 70 has plenty of room for the festival to grow from last year’s 80 vendors to this year’s 100…enough room to top the over 50,000 people that attended last year. Another perk this year is that the event is spread out over two days. If you attended on Saturday, you can go back on Sunday to eat what you didn’t have room for on Saturday.
The enthusiastic and anxious crowd that showed up early to get in were met with a very long but fast-moving line. If you are planning on going tomorrow, I would avoid getting there too early and I would urge you to prepare for hot weather (hats, sunscreen, and stay hydrated!). I would also recommend downloading the app so you can plan ahead what you would like to eat. With all the great food, you have to pace yourself and be selective.
Even though this event is free to get in, remember that this is a fundraiser for La Cocina and think about making a donation. It is a great organization! Enjoy!
