Ever wonder what chefs do when they aren’t slaving over a hot stove? Seems they have been holding out on us. As it turns out, some of them are over at the “Chef’s Lounge”. I joined this group on Facebook at the suggestion of Todd Spanier, aka “The King of Mushrooms” a year ago, but haven’t made it to any of their events until today. Todd and his co-host chef, Neil Marquis, host this floating event on the first Monday of every month at various locations around the bay. It was a relaxed, casual and fun evening. To quote from their Facebook page, Chef’s Lounge is “where food pros, wine makers, brewers, foodies, mushroom people and artisanal purveyors come together for an informal night of food, wine and conversation”. Most in attendance bring food or wine to share, so it is like a professional grade pot luck party. I really enjoyed chef Neil Marquis’ “cold avocado and roasted chili soup with a chipotle and roasted red pepper crème fraiche”. It really hit the spot. As you can see there was also a very nice selection of wine to enjoy. If you are interested in joining the group, or finding out more about it, you can find them on Facebook here. Thanks Todd and Neil. I am looking forward to next month!
